30 is the new 15, the double Quince trend that we're 100% behind

A Quinceañera is a traditional Latin American celebration that marks a girl’s transition into womanhood on her 15th birthday. It is a significant milestone in a young girl’s life and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy by her family and friends.

The celebration typically begins with a religious ceremony, where the quinceañera reaffirms her faith and dedication to God. After the ceremony, the party begins, which is usually a grand affair. The quinceañera is the star of the show, wearing a beautiful ball gown and a tiara. She dances with her father, godfather, and other male family members in a traditional dance called the waltz.

Overall, a Quinceañera is a celebration that honors a young girl's journey into womanhood. It is a time for family and friends to come together and celebrate the past, present, and future of the Quinceañera.

But what happens if you can't afford a Quinceañera or if the timing at 14 years old just w right for such a big event? Well, let us introduce you to "double quinces" aka Double 15's.

Inspired by the article from @r29somos we asked some friends if they knew about this and came across our own Rumbita Queen @murielvillera who celebrated her Quinceañera for her 30th birthday. When asked more about it she simply stated “…it was my 30th (birthday) so double quince … I never had one because we didn’t have the money to throw a party”

Other quinceañeras shared how a traditional moment such as a dance with her father was so much more special being an adult, another shared how a double quince has no limitations and one even said how you’re so much more YOU at age 30 than 15.

We really love this concept and honor that these women did not let society dictate when or how they would celebrate such a commemorative moment. 👸🏽👸🏼👸🏻👸🏾 Salud Damas!
